Based in Virginia, Laura Light and the Avant Gardeners are a nationally touring swing and contra dance band, tunesmiths, and songwriters, famed for their outrageous rock and roll contra dance sets, hot swing, and highly original arrangements of traditional music. They have wowed dancers at the Glen Echo Gala, Blue Moon dance weekend, the Bogue Banks Boogie, the Dance Vortex, and countless dances and concerts from coast to coast. Jim X. Borzym is a lively and energetic caller from Colorado specializing in American Vernacular Dance and dances of the early 20th century. He organizes CFOOTMAD's Sunday Tea Dances and was a featured teacher at the 19th annual dance festival at the Folk Center in Mountain View Arkansas. His long list of artistic pursuits includes teaching historic social dance, the annual spring Columbine Ball in Denver, and the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival.
