Dance Camp History
Wouldn't it be nice to have a camp where musicians can jam together and learn from each other in a relaxed, fun atmosphere ? How about a camp where dancers can enjoy the music of the jamming musicians and learn new moves from each other ? How about in a natural setting, away from the hectic pace of the big city, for longer than a quick weekend ?
Fiddler Mimi Rogers had been dreaming of a camp like that for many years. She finally decided she'd try to make it happen. The result is a 3-day, 4-night music and dance camp at a retreat center on the North shore of Lake Texoma.
Finding a time and a location were major problems. After scouring most of Texas and parts of Oklahoma, she settled on a lovely church camp that was available between Christmas and New Year's, when many people take time off for the holidays. The first one was during the 1999-2000 transition, aptly named Millenium Madness. Thereafter, it has been called Fiddler's Dream.
The camp draws over 100 people from Texas, Oklahoma, and surrounding states, including a strong contingent from Kansas. The space is limited, so if you ever get the chance to go, sign up early or you might miss out.
Here is a list of all of the camps.
