North Texas Traditional Dance Society

NTTDS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization that promotes a better understanding and appreciation of American folk dancing, its music, its history, and related folklore. We are a group affiliate of the Country Dance and Song Society.

The prices for all dances except the Irving dances are:
$10 for non-members, $7 for members, and $5 for students with ID, with maximum of $25 for a family.
The Irving dances just have a tip jar to cover expenses.

We welcome people of all ages to our dances, including children.

In appreciation of the generosity of the First United Lutheran Church in allowing NTTDS to host our dances in their hall for several years, we extend an invitation to all its members to attend one of our weekly dances free of charge.

Dance Information

1st Saturdays: Contra dance from 7:30-10:30 pm at the First United Lutheran Church, 6202 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, 75214.
Beginners are encouraged (but not required) to come to a brief introductory lesson at 7:15 pm.

2nd Saturdays: Contra dance from 7-10 pm at the Garden & Arts Bldg, 906 South Senter Rd, Irving, 75060. There is usually a Waltz session before the contra dance, starting at 6:15 pm.
One reason for the Irving dances is to grow new musicians and callers. Neither will be paid, but will gain real-world experience. If you have questions about the contra dance style of music, or if you need a list of tunes, contact
Mimi Rogers, , Home: 214-357-8213, Cell: 214-403-2734.
If you'd like to call, contact
Linda Mrosko, , Home: 903-451-5535, Work: 903-677-5333, Cell: 903-288-4401
Our 2nd Saturdays in Irving have been building momentum; this is our "experimental, open band, open mic, chance to try new things" dance. We're tweaking a bit on the music side, to strengthen it both for the dancers and for musicians. Allison will now be playing piano. If anyone else wants to bring their keyboard, they're welcome, but the volume will need to be kept very low--if a piano is mic'ed, it will be Allison only. Mimi will give us a strong (mic'ed) melody line, and Allison will do the same for rhythm. Bring your instruments, and your dancing feet!

3rd Saturdays: Contra dance from 7:30 - 10:30 pm at the First United Lutheran Church, 6202 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, 75214.
Beginners are encouraged (but not required) to come to a brief introductory lesson at 7:15 pm.

4th Saturdays: English Country dance from 7:30 - 10:30 pm at the First United Lutheran Church, 6202 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, 75214.

For all our dances, NO experience is needed.
We walk through every dance before doing it to the music.
NO partners are needed. We encourage everyone to change partners for every dance.
