Fiddler's Dream 2026 Music & Dance Camp
Thursday Jan 1 - Sunday Jan 4, 2026
at Cross Point Methodist Camp
Kingston, OK (North shore of Lake Texoma)
Download a list of tunes for the All-Camp Band, and/or the sheet music for some of the tunes.
This ALL-VOLUNTEER event is a 3-day/3-night weekend for callers, dancers,
and traditional musicians to enjoy one another's talents and company in a camp setting.
The focus is contra dance and related music. Everyone has the opportunity to help
provide the entertainment for this event, which begins THURSDAY evening
and ends SUNDAY around noon (after brunch and dancing).
NOTE: Instead of a sit down meal the first night (Thursday),
we will offer a sandwich bar, with chips & dips, etc., for
all campers.
Please consider bringing a side dish for this light meal.
Musicians can jam, play for dancing, and lead workshops in tunes or techniques.
Callers and others can lead a dance session (contra, square, English Country, folk, couples dance, etc.) a song session, other activities, or just dance.
Not a musician or caller, but have another talent you just want to share? You can suggest it on your registration form (preferred) or sign up for it when you get to camp. Such workshop examples from the past include singing, juggling, body percussion and water color, to name a few.
The content of the schedule is largely dependent upon the skills of and suggestions made by those attending, via the registration form. YOU help fill in the schedule with dance, music, or other workshops.
All Camp Band: All players are welcome. The All Camp Band will play for (at least) one 90 minute contra dance segment. See above to download a list of suggested tunes.
Band Scramble: Musicians are divided into several "bands". Each decides on their music selections, and will play for (at least) one 90 minute contra dance segment.
The Camp: Cross Point Methodist Camp lies on the North Shore of Lake Texoma, about two hours from Dallas or Oklahoma City. It features a lovely dance hall that doubles as dining hall, with a beautiful (and soft) wood floor, lots of large windows, and great atmosphere. The official address is 7310 Rock Creek Rd, Kingston, OK, 73439.
LODGING is in 2-sided heated bunkhouse cabins, with bathroom in the middle, separating both sides. The newer cabins have nicer bathrooms, large meeting rooms, refrigerator, sink, and microwave. Tent and limited RV space is also available. There are also several motels near by if you'd prefer them. See the list below.
MEALS: All meals are prepared by the camp staff and are included in the 'with meals' registration options. The lunch and supper salad bar and snack table have accommodated vegetarians in the past. If you think that the food provided by the camp will not work for you, then you can choose a 'no meals' registration option, and provide your own food. Your name badge will reflect that choice. You are welcome to use the refrigerators and microwave ovens located in Madill, Healey, and Wilburn cabins. BEYOND THIS, WE CAN MAKE NO OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS FOR SPECIAL DIETS. PLEASE DO NOT ASK THE KITCHEN STAFF FOR OPTIONS NOT LISTED ON THE MENU.
SNACK TABLE: Please bring your favorite snacks to share, but no chips, please. Most dancers prefer healthy or home-made snacks. If your snacks (like cheeses or dips) need to be kept cool, please bring a small cooler where they can be stored until put on the table, or store them in a refrigerator available in some of the cabins. We need some volunteers to help replenish the snack table throughout the weekend.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
We will have a camp fire one evening, weather permitting.
There are three OPTIONAL activities that are available AT EXTRA COST.
The price depends on how many people want to participate.
You can pay at the camp. Each activity is about 1 hour:
Boat ride $17, Challenge course, low ropes $18-23, Archery $11-16.
COVID Policy:
NTTDS is adopting a trust-the-dancers health policy.
You acknowledge that the close physical contact inherent in contra dancing involves risks,
including the transmission of infectious diseases.
You accept those risks and take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.
We are NOT requiring vaccination or testing. Masks are optional, at your own discretion.
If you have COVID symptoms or test positive in the week prior to the dance, PLEASE DO NOT COME! We will issue you a refund.
While at the dance, if you begin to have symptoms or test positive, please let the organizers know, and self-quarantine immediately!
If you begin to have symptoms or test positive within a week AFTER the dance, please send an email to the organizers (info@nttds.org) as soon as possible, so that information may be shared anonymously with all attendees.
COST: The cost with all options is only $240. Several
options are available, but ALL are for the full weekend. There are NO options
for partial attendance. Children ages 1-7 are half price. Infants less than one
year of age are free. There is a late registration fee of $10 per person starting on Dec 1.
