Set for Spring 2013, a weekend of English Country Dancing, will be held at the Sokol Athletic Center, 7448 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX. The hall features a 5600 square-foot ballroom with a wood floor. Dance Master Gene Murrow will teach, and Joyful Noise and Ladies At Play will provide the music.

GENE MURROW is a man of many faces -- English country dancer and dance leader, teacher of dance and early music workshops throughout the U.S. and in Europe, musician, successful businessman, and arts manager. The dances Gene leads are favorites with "newbies" as well as folks with decades of experience, since he succeeds in approaching English country dances as works of art, striving "to make their richness of structure, musical form, texture, and affect enjoyable and appreciated by dancers of all abilities."

Based in the Philadelphia area, A Joyful Noise began in 1992 and has played at dances, weekend workshops, and dance camps throughout the United States and several foreign countries.

TRANSPORTATION:
Dallas is served by two airports.

The big airport is Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW), located northwest of the city, about 20 miles from the dance hall. It is served by all major airlines (except Southwest).

The smaller airport is Dallas Love Field (DAL), located within the city, about 10 miles from the dance location. It is served by only a few airlines: Southwest, Continental, and Express Jet (to/from Houston only).

Dallas has a mass transit system called Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), with busses and trains that serve much of the city. The DART Red Line and Orange Line Walnut Hill train station is just two blocks from Sokol. There are no trains that run directly to either airport, but there are busses that go from the airport to a transportation hub where trains are available. It is usually faster to use a cab or commercial shuttle to/from the airport. You can hail a cab or a shuttle at the airport, either directly in the pickup zones or by using phones located in the airport.
The DART web site has a Trip Planner that will plot a route between two points.
