Cross Point Methodist Camp
Kingston, OK (North shore of Lake Texoma)
Fri-Mon, Dec 29, 2006 - Jan 1, 2007
This all-volunteer event is a 3-day/3-night weekend for callers, dancers and traditional musicians to enjoy one another's talents and company and get away from it all. The focus is contra dance and related music. Everyone has the opportunity to help provide the entertainment for this 3-day event, which begins FRIDAY with the evening meal and ends MONDAY with lunch.
Musicians can jam, play for dancing, and lead workshops in tunes or techniques. Callers and others can lead a dance session (contras, squares, Eng. Country, couple dances, etc.) a song session, kids activity (if enough kids attend), or just dance. The content of the schedule is largely dependent upon the skills of and suggestions made by those attending. See the registration form.
MUSICIANS: You are encouraged to download and learn a few common tunes for the weekend.
The Camp, Cross Point Methodist, lies on the North Shore of Lake Texoma, just two hours from Dallas or Oklahoma City. It features a lovely dance hall that doubles as dining hall, with a beautiful (and soft) wood floor, lots of large windows, and great atmosphere. All meals are prepared by the camp staff and are included in the registration cost.
Lodging is in bunkhouse cabins (with heat and A/C), with four bunk beds and two single beds in each of the two rooms flanking the bath. An attempt will be made to limit each side of the cabin to 5-6 persons, or a max of approx 12 per cabin. Tent and limited RV space is also available (see registrar). There are also several motels near by if you'd prefer them. See the list below.
