Set for Spring 2010, a weekend of English Country Dancing, will be held at the Dallas Arts Center, 2030 Main Street and Sons of Hermann Hall, 3414 Elm Street. The Dallas Arts Center features a 6,000 square-foot ballroom with a sprung wood floor and many windows with great views of downtown Dallas. Dance Master Joseph Pimentel will teach, and Foxfire (Daron Douglas on violin and Karen Axelrod on piano) will provide the music.
Dances will be held Friday and Saturday evenings with workshops during the day on Saturday. A Sunday afternoon dance will be held at the Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the weekend. Local dancers will provide hospitality for those who request it early.

have to be dance-related. NTTDS is a non-profit organization, so donations

HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS:
Here is a map (496K PDF) of
the area listing nearby hotels and restaurants.
PREFERRED HOTEL:
The Hotel Indigo
is our official host hotel. It is at 1933 Main Street, 75201, just ONE BLOCK away from the
Dallas Arts Council Ballroom, so you can park your car once in the
covered parking garage and walk to and from the event.
It was the very first Hilton Hotel, and is a historic landmark that was recently renovated.
The rooms and suites are beautifully equipped
and decorated. The hotel has
a full bar and restaurant plus a workout room, if dancing all day isn't
enough of a workout. The restaurant and the food are
sensational (try the salmon salad!). Also, the prices of meals there
are quite reasonable.
Our special rate is $89 per night + tax, for either rooms or suites!
This special rate is available for extra days before and after the weekend, so
if you want to come a day early or spend extra days after the dance to
enjoy Dallas, you may do so with no rate increase.
The hotel has a special
registration web page for us.
Please use this web page to book a room. Or, if you prefer, you can call
them at (214) 915-8305. Be sure to mention the North Texas Traditional
Dance Society.
Please book a room there, preferably before February 28. If you've
already made reservations somewhere else and can change the reservation,
we encourage you to rebook at Hotel Indigo. The hotel is across the
street and one block from the ballroom, so it is extremely convenient.
They are really helping us out, and they will give us the use of the
lobby and two large adjoining rooms for our after-dance parties if we
book 20 rooms.
HOSPITALITY:
If you wish to skip the Hotel Indigo and stay with local dancers, we
have a limited amount of hospitality available. We want to start
matching hosts and guests in February, so please register for the
weekend and request hospitality as soon as possible.
TRANSPORTATION:
Dallas is served by two airports.
The big airport is Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW), located northwest of the city, about 20 miles from the dance hall. It is served by all major airlines (except Southwest).
The smaller airport is Dallas Love Field (DAL), located within the city, about 10 miles from the dance location. It is served by only a few airlines: Southwest, Continental, and Express Jet (to/from Houston only).
Dallas has a mass transit system called Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART),
with busses and trains that serve much of the city.
It does NOT yet extend to DFW airport, so you must rent a car or use a cab
or commercial shuttle to/from that airport. You can hail a cab or a shuttle
at the airport, either directly in the pickup zones or by using phones located in the airport.
There is a bus that serves Love field, and there are bus stops
very near the dance hall and the downtown hotels, and train stations about 5 blocks away.
The DART web site has a Trip Planner
that will plot a route between two points.
COST:
$85 for the whole weekend (PRICE DROP: ONLY $45 for STUDENTS, any age)
$25 each for Friday evening
or Saturday daytime workshops or Saturday evening
$20 for Sunday only
