NTTDS Special Events
Aug 7: Our August 7 Contra Dance at the Plaza will be a very special event. Former Dallas dancer Gary Blankenship and former Houston dancer Cheryl Joyal are getting married on July 9, in their new home town of Naperville, near Chicago. To include their Texas friends in the celebration, they are turning our Aug 7 contra dance into a wedding party! ADMISSION IS FREE. All are welcome to come celebrate with the newlyweds.
Second Saturdays:
Contra Dance at Senter East Building, 228
Chamberlain Street, Irving.
OR at Garden & Arts Building, 906 South Senter Rd, Irving
(see map page for directions),
with a pot luck dinner before each dance, starting at 6 pm.
One reason for this dance is to grow new musicians and callers. Neither will be
paid, but will gain real-world experience. If you'd like to sit in with the

Third Saturdays:
Starting July 2009, our new lease with the Plaza is for First Saturdays ONLY.
The Third Saturday contra dances will be at
First United
Lutheran Church, 6202 Mockingbird Lane, about 8 blocks east of Central
Expressway, between Skillman and Abrams, on the South side of Mockingbird,
across the stree from Luby's cafeteria.
We'll be in the hall directly behind the main sanctuary building.
Publicity
We are trying out several new ways to get publicity.
Sylvia has setup a Meetup account for us, where our dances will be listed for anyone to find. The more people a meetup has, the more likely others will take it seriously and try it. Please visit and sign up (it's free).
Linda Mrosko has gotten us listed on the Dallas Morning News Guidelive web site.
Anyone can post reviews of events, so please go there and post a nice review
for us.
We're also on Facebook. You are encouraged to become a member.

Contra dances are held on the 1st
Saturdays of every month, 8-11 pm,
at the Plaza Arts Center, 1115 4th Ave, Carrollton, TX 75006
(Mapsco 12 C, near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Belt Line Road).
2nd Saturday Contra Dances are in Irving at either of two locations near each other.
3rd and 5th Saturday Contra Dances are at the First United Lutheran Church in Dallas.
Admission is $6 for members, $8 for
non-members, and $2 for students
with ID (worth it just for the music).

The Plaza hall has a wonderful soft sprung wood floor, and the dances use live
music.
Beginners are encouraged (but not required) to come to a brief introductory
lesson at 7:45 pm.
English Country dances are held on the 4th
Saturday of every month, 8-11 pm,
usually at the Quaker Friends Meeting House,
5828 Worth St, Dallas, TX (Mapsco 36 Y).
Occasionally, the location changes to Sons
of Hermann Hall on Elm street near Fair Park.
There is no fixed admission charge, but a donation (e.g. $5) is requested.
The hall has a nice sprung wood floor, and the dances use recorded music.
Please bring a separate pair of clean dance shoes to protect the floor.
Dancers are invited to bring a dance to lead. Music can be coordinated with

For all our dances, NO experience is needed.
We walk through every dance before doing it to the music.
NO partners are needed. We encourage everyone to change
partners for every dance.

Non-NTTDS Dances
Dallas International Folk Dancers meet every Friday night at 8
to 10 PM at Quaker Meeting House.
