Cross Point Methodist Camp
Kingston, OK (North shore of Lake Texoma)
Wednesday Dec 31, 2008 - Sunday Jan 4, 2009

NEW! EXPANDED TO 4 DAYS!

This all-volunteer event is a 4-day/4-night weekend for callers, dancers and traditional musicians to enjoy one another's talents and company in a camp setting. The focus is contra dance and related music. Everyone has the opportunity to help provide the entertainment for this 4-day event, which begins WEDNESDAY with the evening meal and ends SUNDAY with lunch.

Musicians can jam, play for dancing, and lead workshops in tunes or techniques. Callers and others can lead a dance session (contra, square, Eng. Country, couple dance, etc.) a song session, kids activity (if enough kids attend), or just dance. The content of the schedule is largely dependent upon the skills of and suggestions made by those attending. See the registration form.

MUSICIANS: You are encouraged to download and learn a few common tunes for the weekend.

The Camp, Cross Point Methodist, lies on the North Shore of Lake Texoma, about two hours from Dallas or Oklahoma City. It features a lovely dance hall that doubles as dining hall, with a beautiful (and soft) wood floor, lots of large windows, and great atmosphere.

LODGING is in bunkhouse cabins (with heat and A/C), with four bunk beds and two single beds in each of the two rooms flanking the bath. An attempt will be made to limit each side of the cabin to 6 persons, or a max of approx 12 per cabin. Tent and limited RV space is also available (see registrar). There are also several motels near by if you'd prefer them. See the list below.

MEALS: All meals are prepared by the camp staff and are included in the 'with meals' registration. Please see the menu for the entire weekend, and the bounty of healthy and gourmet snacks provided by Linda Mahony for noshing between meals and after dances. If you see that the food provided by the camp will not work for you, then you can choose the 'NO MEALS' registration option. Your name badge will reflect that choice. You are welcome to make use of the kitchen located in Madill cabin on site, which contains a microwave, full size and mini refrigerators, and a sink. You may want to bring an electric skillet or grill.
WE CAN MAKE NO OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS FOR SPECIAL DIETS. PLEASE DO NOT ASK THE KITCHEN STAFF FOR OPTIONS NOT LISTED ON THE MENU.

COST: The cost for all 4 days with all options is $170. See the registration form for the various options. Children ages 1-7 are half price. Infants less than one year of age are free. Add $10 after Dec 1.
REGISTER EARLY. The deadline for registration is Dec 21, but it is expected to fill up by Dec 1. A waiting list will be maintained.
